EU AI ACT - Where to start
Let’s get straight into it!
What is the EU AI Act?
This is the first EU comprehensive regulation on AI that entered into force last year August 1st (2024). Different sections and obligations of the act will enter into force over the next few years/months and most of the act will be enforced by August 2027.
The act imposes obligations on the Provider, Deployer, and other actors (including for example, the importer).
The act seems to take a similar approach to the GDPR with a broad extra-territorial scope of application. If you are in EU or work with the EU, you will hear or have already heard about it!
EU AI ACT : This is the official journal publication for the act. I would not necessarily recommend reading the full act as the first step. However, it is important to have the link to refer to the act when you are reading about something specific and you want to understand how it is exactly presented. In the recital, you also have some insight and great definitions. Worth having it on hands.

NotebookLM - The podcast option
What is NotebookLLM?
This is the new/not so new AI tool released by Google. The first intended used seems to be for quick summarization and note-taking. You can also use it as your AI tutor or peer.
Why am I talking about it this week?
I’ve watched a video recently where Tiago Force was demonstrating how he is using NotebookLLM.
I am currently studying for the AIGP and I fed the tool with some of the AI governance resources I found most useful and started to ask specific questions to the audio conversation.
I LOVE PODCAST and this is some of the example it came up with:
I fed the tool with some of my selected ressources with a focus on the EU AI Act ressources.
I personalised a short audio in-depth conversation/Deep Dive and asked:
Explain the different EU AI Prohibition on the EU AI act with concrete examples
And here what it came up with
Note: you can customise the audio and even to to almost one hour of audio conversation, great for people who learn better by listening!
